About
As both a physiotherapist and someone who has personally experienced scoliosis, Laura understands the physical and emotional challenges that can come with navigating posture, exercise, pain, body awareness, and long-term management. Her own journey with scoliosis — including bracing, surgery, and rehabilitation — helped shape her passion for helping others move confidently and stay active with scoliosis throughout their lives.
Laura’s approach combines physiotherapeutic scoliosis-specific exercise (PSSE), movement-based rehabilitation, and motor control strategies to help individuals improve movement awareness, function, confidence, and long-term spinal health. She believes scoliosis rehabilitation should extend beyond corrective exercises alone and support people in participating fully in exercise, sport, work, and daily life.
Laura has pursued extensive postgraduate training in scoliosis rehabilitation, including BSPTS/Schroth and SEAS approaches, and remains actively involved in ongoing scoliosis education and international conferences through SOSORT (International Society on Scoliosis Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Treatment).
Laura is the lead clinician at Myodetox Oak and is actively involved in mentoring and training clinicians as part of the clinic’s ongoing mentorship and professional development program
Ongoing professional involvement includes:
Presenter for Osteopathy BC webinar on scoliosis rehabilitation and exercise-based management (2025)
Clinical Skills Assistant (CSA) with the University of British Columbia physiotherapy program since 2018, including the Advanced MSK Techniques in the Spine course (2025, 2026)
Completed Levels 4 and 5 orthopaedic manual therapy training and currently pursuing advanced manual therapy certification (FCAMPT)
Laura continues to stay actively involved in the international scoliosis rehabilitation community through ongoing education, collaboration, and professional development to help provide evidence-informed, individualized scoliosis care.
Outside of the clinic, Laura enjoys hiking, yoga, strength training, and staying active outdoors. She values movement as an important part of long-term physical and mental well-being and enjoys spending time with her son and family.
