Running & Scoliosis
Many people with scoliosis enjoy running or would like to return to running but are unsure how scoliosis may affect their movement, comfort, or performance.
In most cases, running is safe for individuals with scoliosis and can be an excellent way to support cardiovascular health, fitness, and overall well-being.
Because every person and every curve is different, recommendations should be tailored to the individual rather than based on general rules. Factors such as curve pattern, mobility, strength, training history, symptoms, and running goals may all influence the approach.
Recommendations may include guidance regarding running technique, movement strategies, strength and conditioning, training modifications, and integrating scoliosis-specific principles into running.
If you are a runner and interested in understanding how your scoliosis may be affecting your running, I offer running assessments for individuals who have already completed an Initial Scoliosis Assessment.
